Derek Frew’s 25th Anniversary Sale hit the target at Ballymena Mart with a complete clearance selling to a top call of 2750 guineas.

Topping the sale at 2750 guineas was “Frewstown Forbo”, a superb Cantona son born in July 2010. This exciting young prospect had received considerable attention prior to the auction with a constant stream of interested parties in his sale pen all evening. The purchasers were Gareth and Will Corrie, Newtownards who run a very successful butchery chain using Limousin supplied from their suckler enterprise. The same buyers proved hard to stop when it came to quality as they added “Frewstown Frewsone” to their shopping list at 2500 guineas.
Heifers were also in demand reaching heights of 2200 guineas paid on two occasions for “Frewstown Fantastic” and “Frewstown Frantastic”. These were both sired by the 42,000 guineas “Wilodge Vantastic” and were snapped up by Newry based breeder Peter Murphy for his Carrickaldreen herd.
